Back home in Indiana…

This WILL be a painting.

This COULD be a painting. The geometry in the fields are intriguing to me.

This actually IS a painting. I just took this photo on our recent trip--but the actual photo I painted from was taken back in 2007 when the corn was planted on the opposite side of the road. The painting is called COUNTY ROAD 32 and captures the feeling of this piece of Indiana much better than this particular photo does.

We spent a relaxing week in Indiana, visiting our family and friends in the beginning of August.

I love the summer in Northern Indiana. Nothing beats the views of lush, green fields accented by red barns. It’s Christmas for your eyes (without the snow!)

Here’s some photos from our most recent visit, along with some of the paintings that have been inspired by our visits to Indiana in the past few years.

This barn was part of a QUILT GARDEN tour in LaGrange County, Indiana. The garden in the foreground is designed to look like a quilt block.

I had forgotten how tall the corn gets. It really does appear to be "as high as an elephants eye."

Here’s a video of somebody (NOT us) driving past some corn fields…
